Airtable 1.7.3.0

Overview

Airtable is a no-code platform from Formagrid Inc. for building databases, workflows and custom applications. It pairs a spreadsheet-like interface with a more structured data model, so records in one table can link to records in others, and the same underlying data can be viewed in several formats. The company reports that more than 500,000 organizations use the product.

Building apps and workflows

Users can generate apps through conversational building using the company's no-code components, or assemble their own layouts. Interfaces can be presented as list, kanban, calendar, gallery, dashboard, form and grid layouts. The help center organizes its documentation into collections covering automations, extensions, sync, the interface designer, fields, views and integrations with other services.

AI features

Omni is Airtable's built-in AI assistant. It can search records using natural language, answer questions about data and generate charts from a written description. Airtable agents are designed to reason across large numbers of records and carry out actions across a workflow. The platform offers AI models from providers including OpenAI, Gemini, Llama and Anthropic. Prepackaged AI plays provide starting points for tasks such as translating a batch of assets, checking local regulatory requirements or drafting campaign ideas from a brief. According to the company, customer data is not retained or used to train AI models, and models run within Airtable's AWS environment.

Administration and security

• Admin roles, permissions and fine-grained role-based access control
• Fine-grained controls over how AI features are enabled
• Programmatic provisioning and de-provisioning, along with identity provider synced groups
• Compliance listed as ISO, HIPAA and SOC 2
• Enterprise key management, data loss prevention, audit logs and e-discovery
• Data residency support for Europe and Australia

Scale

The company cites record limits in the hundreds of millions and support for scaling workflows to tens of thousands of users.

Mobile apps

The iOS app is free and requires iOS 17.0 or later. Version 11.10 holds a 4.8 average from 25,069 ratings in the App Store. The Android app on Google Play has more than one million downloads and 16.4K reviews. Interfaces built in Airtable work on mobile without additional setup, and users can update records and statuses, add records through forms, search and filter, and comment in real time. Records appear as tap-friendly cards, and list, kanban, calendar, gallery, dashboard, form and grid layouts are supported at full screen. Omni is also available in the Android app, where users can type or speak questions about a base. Some Google Play reviewers say that certain basic features are missing from the mobile app compared with the web version, while others praise its task tracking and customizable columns.

Templates and common uses

Pre-built templates cover project management, event management, sales lead tracking, to-do lists, personal and small business CRM, expense and vendor tracking, asset and inventory management, and product catalogs. The App Store description lists uses ranging from recruiting, volunteer management and sales pipelines to film production, editorial calendars, store inventory and building inspection checklists.
